37. سورة الصَّافَّات

إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ(140)

جب وہ بھری ہوئی کشتی کی طرف دوڑے

When he ran towards the full boat.

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ(141)

پھر (کشتی بھنور میں پھنس گئی تو) انہوں نے قرعہ ڈالا تو وہ (قرعہ میں) مغلوب ہوگئے (یعنی ان کا نام نکل آیا اور کشتی والوں نے انہیں دریا میں پھینک دیا)

Then (when it was caught into a whirlpool) they cast lots and (in the draws) he came to be the loser (i.e. his name was drawn and those in the boat threw him into the river).

فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ(142)

پھر مچھلی نے ان کو نگل لیا اور وہ (اپنے آپ پر) نادم رہنے والے تھے

Then the fish swallowed him and he was a (self-condemning) repentant.

فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنْ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ(143)

پھر اگر وہ (اﷲ کی) تسبیح کرنے والوں میں سے نہ ہوتے

Then if he had not been of those who glorify (Allah),

لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ(144)

تو اس (مچھلی) کے پیٹ میں اُس دن تک رہتے جب لوگ (قبروں سے) اٹھائے جائیں گے

He would have stayed in the belly (of the fish) till the Day when people will be resurrected (from the graves).

فَنَبَذْنَاهُ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ(145)

پھر ہم نے انہیں (ساحلِ دریا پر) کھلے میدان میں ڈال دیا حالانکہ وہ بیمار تھے

Then We cast him onto a wide plain (the beach) while he was sick.

وَأَنبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ(146)

اور ہم نے ان پر (کدّو کا) بیل دار درخت اُگا دیا

And We caused a creeping (gourd) plant to grow over him.

وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَى مِئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ(147)

اور ہم نے انہیں (اَرضِ موصل میں قومِ نینوٰی کے) ایک لاکھ یا اس سے زیادہ افراد کی طرف بھیجا تھا

And We sent him towards (the people of Nineveh on the land of Mosul,) a population of a hundred thousand or more.

فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَى حِينٍ(148)

سو (آثارِ عذاب کو دیکھ کر) وہ لوگ ایمان لائے تو ہم نے انہیں ایک وقت تک فائدہ پہنچایا

(Seeing the signs of torment,) they believed. So We granted them prosperity for a time.

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُونَ(149)

پس آپ اِن (کفّارِ مکّہ) سے پوچھئے کیا آپ کے رب کے لئے بیٹیاں ہیں اور ان کے لئے بیٹے ہیں

So ask these (disbelievers of Makka): ‘Are there daughters for your Lord and sons for them?
